Now days if you observe closely you will see that there are many film makers, producers are there who are only focusing on making cinematic universe. If you don’t know what is cinematic universe then it means that it is a concept which basically refers to a franchise where many individual films connect to each other to tell a similar narrative from many different ways. In this type of universes they mainly try to introduce many characters with their origin story or mainly what phases they are facing through life. Slowly each characters started to meet each other make cameos in other character films and then they all make appearances in one single movie that makes fans go crazy.
Best example out there is MCU and DCEU, everybody knows Marvel and DC and everyone is aware of thing that they do. They make films which are inspired from comics where they do crossover, mix films, plots and characters to each another film. This concept is known as cinematic universe. You can watch another studios doing things as well. Harry Potter Saga, Star Wars Saga and X-Men Saga etc. many more franchises are there that do these type of stuff. Now the question is Why everyone is Obsessed with Cinematic Universes?
The answer is Simple:- Audience. Audience loves to watch these type of films and films make profit so why studios would not do it. Now days, these type of things are in peak where studios make several things around one topic such as sequels, prequels, spin-off, animated movies, series etc. including games where audience gets their entertainment, fan service and dopamine as well and the studio gets the real thing. Yes! The Money which motivates them to do these type of stuffs more and more by which both parties enjoys as well.
Recently, these type of things are happening in India, where many directors, producers and film studios are tying to make cinematic universe and provoking Indian audience to see those stuffs and get engaged in these type of things. Recently the best example is Stree2 where they connect other characters from other film in this one movie and now people are also engaging and finally start to understand what is cinematic universe would be?
Another film directors like Lokesh has making LCU and Rohit Shetty is also there who is making Cop Universe with major topics and various characters. One thing is confirm that they are also inspired from MCU and DCEU but they need to understand that they have their concept, plot, storytelling and ideas everything comes from their comics, writers, and self ideas. But Indian filmmaker need to understand that they do not have any stuff like comics which can provide them ideas which they can execute.
If you will think, Marvel has comics, multiverse, different timelines which they can execute in different ways for at least 50 years but how will you execute them? How will you continue these in upcoming years? If you had good ideas and know how to execute them we will come and watch also support those universes to grow. But if you are not willing to provide what you all promise to us , then, please drop these type of things and make those content which will bring audience to theaters.
Now, it’s all up to film makers what they are going to provide us but as you see now everyone is obsessed to see series, movies which are connected to each other and sequel always makes profit more than first film for example you can see Stree2. Because now people want to follow and updated to every little things what they love.
